"I look forward to continuing the great work LULAC 4871 has done to help both
the Hispanic and LGBT community," said Treviño. "We have a terrific board of
directors who are just as passionate as I am to make a difference in the
community."

and Families in the Department of Health and Human Services.  His office is in
downtown Washington, D.C., just minutes from the U.S. Capitol building and the
White House.

"I'm proud of the amazing work LULAC 4871 has done these past five years,"
said Garcia. "We have tackled homophobia, HIV, hunger, voter apathy and
higher education issues in the Hispanic community and started important
dialogue. John Treviño will do a great job. I want to thank him, the board of
directors and the membership of LULAC 4871 for their kindness and support.
I'm going to miss them but I will remain involved with LULAC and hope to see
them at future conventions."

Treviño will serve out the remainder of Garcia's term which ends in March 2012,
when the organization elects a new executive board.
