GENERAL MEETINGS
March Meeting: LULAC 4871 will celebrate Women’s History Month by featuring
Dallas Attorney Adelfa Callejo on Tuesday, March 23, 6:30 p.m., Hungdingers,
4000 Cedar Springs Rd. Suite E, Dallas, TX 75219. Ms. Callejo was one of the first
Latinas in the nation to earn a law degree.
April Meeting: LULAC 4871 will host State Rep. Lon Burnam who is the Executive
Director of the Dallas Peace Center on Tuesday, April 27, 6:30 p.m., Hungdingers,
4000 Cedar Springs Rd. Suite E, Dallas, TX 75219. The Dallas Peace Center
works on many projects that bring various communities of color, faith and class
together to promote peace in the world.
May Meeting: Dallas Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Pauline Medrano will give a
presentation to LULAC 4871 about the improvements scheduled for the Oak Lawn

LULAC CONVENTIONS
April 10: LULAC District Convention
The LULAC District III Convention will take place Saturday, April 10, 8 a.m. to 6 p.
m., at Eastfield College, Pleasant Grove Campus, located at 802 S. Buckner Blvd.,
Dallas, TX 75217. Businesses wishing to sponsor the convention, sponsor a
booth or place an advertisement in the convention program may contact LULAC
District III Deputy District Director Jesse Garcia at jessegarciadallas@gmail.com.
June 2-6: LULAC State Convention
The 2010 Texas LULAC State Convention will take place June 2-6, 2010, at the
Austin Hilton Airport Hotel, located at 9515 Hotel Drive, Austin TX 78719. For more

July 12-17: LULAC National Convention
The 2010 National LULAC Convention and Expo will take place July 12-17, 2010,
at the Albuquerque Convention Center, located at 401 Second St. NW,

UPCOMING EVENTS
March: Census Outreach
LULAC 4871 and the Human Rights Campaign will promote the 2010 Census to
the community on the Cedar Springs strip every Saturday in March from Noon to 4
p.m. on the patio of Havana’s, 4006 Cedar Springs Rd., Dallas, TX 75219. Stop by
and learn about the 2010 Census!
April: Taking it to the Streets
LULAC 4871 will mark storm drainages on city streets with environmental
messages that will protect the City of Dallas’ water supply. Training takes place
Saturday, April 3, at Noon, followed by an hour of placing permanent signs on
storm drains on a city street. To participate, email lulac4871@aol.com.
April: Legal Clinic for Low Income Citizens
LULAC 4871 will volunteer to help the Dallas Bar Association with Spanish
translation at their Free Legal Clinic in West Dallas on Thursday, April 22, from 5
to 9 p.m., at the Marillac Social Center, 2827 Lapsley St, Dallas, TX 75212. If you
know Spanish and are willing to spend two hours at the event, please volunteer.

May: White Rock Lake
LULAC 4871 will volunteer to clean up our adopted park at White Rock Lake
Saturday, May 8, at 8 a.m. We will show up in the morning to pick up supplies at
the Love of the Lake Office, and then clean until 10:30 a.m. To participate, email

July: School Supplies
The LULAC 4871 Dallas Rainbow Council will begin its 2nd Annual School Supply
Drive. Our 2010 goal: two classrooms! Details to come. Want to contribute brand
