February 17: General Meeting
LULAC 4871 now meets on the third Thursday of each month at Havana’s, located
at 4006 Cedar Springs Rd., Dallas, TX 75219. Join us Thursday, February 17, 6:30
p.m. Special guest is Angela Hunt, Dallas City Councilwoman.
March 12: White Rock Lake Community Service Project
LULAC 4871 Council members will join Allstars LULAC Youth Council #1113 and
Skyline LULAC Youth Council on Saturday, March 12, at 8 a.m., to help clean up a
section of White Rock Lake that LULAC has adopted. You will receive tools and
trash bags, plus you will be trained by staff on what to pick up and not pick up. We
will register and train at 1152 N Buckner Blvd - Suite #123, Dallas, TX 75218. Then
we head down the street to clean up our spot at White Rock park.
Today until February 17: 2011 Membership Drive
The hardest working group on the block needs your membership. Special thanks
to Diana Serna Aguilera, David Aguilera, Jesus Chairez, Jesse Garcia and Mary
Hernandez for signing up to become 2011 members of LULAC 4871 during the
November general meeting. You may have already received your membership
renewal form in the mail this past week. If not, there is one attached to this email.
Please fill out and mail to LULAC 4871, PO Box 192336, Dallas, TX 75219. Annual
membership is $40, which includes membership for this council, the district, the
state and National LULAC.
May 22: GayBingo in May 2011
LULAC 4871 will now be a beneficiary of the May 2011 GayBingo, not the January
2011 event. We are responsible for selling 25 tickets at $25 for the event. We are
also responsible for providing 6 volunteers on May 13 to promote the event at
Cedar Springs, followed by 12 volunteers on the day of the event: Saturday, May
21, from 4 to 10 p.m., at S4, 3911 Cedar Springs Rd., Dallas, TX 75219. LULAC
4871 will be able to get proceeds from drawings made that evening, plus it gives
an opportunity to recruit new members.
2011 Conventions
Great speakers, networking opportunities and fellowship with other LULAC
members await you at LULAC Conventions. Delegates get to vote on district, state
and national officers, plus decide LULAC policy and vote on resolutions.
Alternates who are elevated to delegate status can also vote. Every member who
attends conventions can take part informative sessions, lunches, dinners and -- at
the national LULAC convention -- the expo, which features career and higher
education recruitment representatives. Mark your calendars:
